Edukasi Masyarakat Padat Penduduk Melalui Budidaya Maggot Sebagai Solusi Penguraian Sampah Organik: Studi Kasus di RT 04 Kelurahan Tanah Patah

Abstract

The Community Service program carried out through the Student Community Service (KKN) activities in RW 01 RT 04, Tanah Patah Subdistrict, Bengkulu City, focused on addressing the issue of poorly managed household organic waste in densely populated urban areas. This program aimed to improve residents’ awareness and technical skills in processing organic waste using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae, or maggots. The activity was conducted through direct door-to-door visits to 13 households, targeting housewives and heads of families who raise poultry or birds. The educational content included the role of maggots in accelerating organic waste decomposition, their nutritional value as animal feed, and practical guidance for small-scale maggot cultivation using simple tools. The results showed a highly positive response, with residents actively engaging in discussions and requesting maggot samples for home trials. This activity demonstrated that maggot-based education is an effective solution for sustainable waste management while also opening up local household economic opportunities.
