Dampak Bank Sampah Terhadap Kesadaran Masyarakat Dalam Menjaga Kebersihan Lingkungan

Abstract

Bank Sampah Kreatif Berseri in Lempuing Urban Village, Bengkulu, was established to address the challenges of independent waste management and enhance environmental awareness. This community service activity aims to measure the impact of the waste bank on increasing public awareness of waste management, describe the educational activities carried out, and identify the challenges faced. The implementation method involved a preparation phase, confirming with local village officials, followed by an implementation phase that included direct socialization by KKN students to the community for three weeks in three sub-districts, as well as routine waste deposit and sorting activities by customers every weekend. The results indicate an increase in residents' awareness of waste sorting and participation as customers, along with an understanding of waste's economic value. This waste bank also serves as an agent of social change supported by the collaboration of KKN students. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited initial public understanding, facility constraints, and human resource availability are still encountered. Therefore, efforts to strengthen institutional structures, promote continuous community involvement, and secure support from local government are necessary to ensure the program's sustainability.
